Black Shipibo Dieta is a sacred two-week retreat centering Black healing within the ancestral tradition of Shipibo plant medicine. Guided by Shipibo Maestros at Kushi Ayahuasca Retreat Center in the Peruvian Amazon, this immersive experience offers a rare opportunity for participants of African descent to engage deeply with master plants in a culturally safe and spiritually grounded space. Rooted in the powerful lineage of dieta work, participants receive personal plant prescriptions, attend six ayahuasca ceremonies, and are supported through baths, songs, teachings, and community. This is a call to those ready to heal, remember, and rise—held by the jungle, guided by the maestras, and surrounded by kin.
Throughout the Black Shipibo Dieta, participants will experience six traditional ayahuasca ceremonies led by the Shipibo Maestros and supported by our facilitators. Healing is deepened through the chanting of traditional icaros—medicine songs sung by the Maestros and facilitators to guide and cleanse the energy during ceremony. Each participant will receive a personal consultation, with translation support, to select the appropriate master plant ally for their dieta. Daily plant tea from your chosen dieta plant will be served three times a day to support your healing journey. The retreat includes basic Shipibo language classes and teachings on the cosmology of the Shipibo-Konibo tradition. Additional supportive treatments include purgatives such as sangre de grado taken after ceremony for deep physical cleansing, vapor baths with Amazonian plants to release toxins and negative energy, mucura sinus cleanses to boost respiratory health, smoke baths with palo santo for energetic protection, chiric sanango to support the nervous system and emotional release, daily wasai tea for kidney and urinary tract purification, and love baths to welcome in sweetness and attract positive energies. As needed, poultices, traditional massages, and other medicines will be offered to support each participant’s healing path.
