We are deeply honored to return for the 4th Annual Roots of Renewal Gathering in beautiful Bay Area, California.
For the past three years, we’ve gathered with our beloved community in prayer, healing, and remembrance, rooted in love, reverence, and resilience. From the very beginning, Gabriel De Souza and Jayanti Luna have walked alongside Black Condor, helping guide these sacred nights through Afro-Brazilian traditions, Amazonian medicine, ancestral prayer, and song.
Now, for the fourth year, we return once again to deepen the work, strengthen community, and continue answering the call to gather in sacred space together.
Join us for two transformative nights, Flight of the Eagle and Night of Orisha Song, featuring ceremony, ritual, sacred music, ancestral connection, and the healing medicine of community.

with a prayer to connect with an ayahuasca tradition deeply rooted in our African ancestry. We are grateful that our prayer was answered when we met Gabriel and Luna.
Gabriel de Souza, born into this tradition (literally, during a ceremony!), carries the lineage of the Umbandamie practitioners who descended from Mestre Irineu, an ex-slave who went on to become the founder of the tradition.
We are grateful and honored to be able to be in collaboration with offer this prayer once again to our community!

We will provide you with all the information and resources you need to prepare for the ceremony, including what to expect, how to prepare yourself mentally and physically, and any other necessary information.

Two transformative nights of healing—Flight of the Eagle and Night of Orisha Song. These ceremonies will feature Amazonian medicines, sacred rituals, singing, dancing, incredible musicianship.

Black Condor circles are a unique and transformative aspect of our retreats. Here, we come together to open and activate our prayers, create space for mind and body practices, and perform rituals to honor the land and our ancestors.

A post-ceremony group space where participants can reflect, share insights, and process their experiences together.

Kambo medicine, a therapeutic substance sourced from the skin secretion of the a tree frog, traditionally used by indigenous tribes for its detoxifying, immune-boosting, anti-inflammatory, and mental clarity properties, aiding in stress resistance and emotional release.

Alongside the divine medicines used, we will also be offering other complementary ceremonial plant medicines.

Roots of Renewal is more than a retreat, it’s a space for Black folks to gather in prayer, healing, remembrance, and community.
Held on the beautiful land of the Lake Miwok and Pomo peoples in Northern California, this gathering invites us to slow down, reconnect with ourselves, and engage sacred medicine work within an intentional Black-centered container.
Guided by Gabriel and Jayanti, we’ll work with Amazonian plant medicine, Afro-Brazilian spiritual traditions, sacred song, ritual, and ancestral prayer. Together, we create space to release what no longer serves, reconnect with spirit, and remember the deeper wisdom carried within us.
There is something powerful that happens when we heal in community, when we are witnessed, supported, and able to fully arrive as ourselves. Roots of Renewal is an invitation to return to the fire, return to the body, and return to what matters most.

Gabriel De Souza was born into the spiritual doctrine of the Santo Daime. A third-generation Daimista, his parents actively participated in the formation of the church Flor da Montanha, whose spiritual leader was Mãe Baixinha. This is where he deepened his studies within the tradition of Umbanda and mediumship under the guidance of Mãe Baixinha. Gabriel began to study the guitar within the doctrine at age 11 and by age 17 was leading spiritual works in Bahia, where his mother currently directs the works. He received his B.A in music in Salvador, Bahia before moving to California. While living in Santa Cruz, CA, his alliance with Léo Artese and his methodology Universal Shamanism began. Since that initial meeting, Gabriel has played an essential role in the expansion of the shamanic journey Flight of the Eagle within the United States and beyond. In summary, Gabriel is a highly intuitive medium. Known for his exceptional musicianship, he dedicates himself to the study of music, the consecration of sacred medicines, and the healing arts. Gabriel combines his lifetime of plant medicine experience with sound healing to assist others in connecting with their true selves.

Jayanti Luna is a Bhakti Yoga Initiate, Daimista, and Moon dancer. Immersed in spirituality from a young age, Luna's quest for healing led her on a journey that intersected with Ayahuasca at eighteen years old on the Big Island of Hawaii. For a Mestiza who grew up in the barrio of Los Angeles, this cathartic encounter seemed an unlikely destiny but one that ultimately changed the course of her life. In 2010, she met Gabriel at Mãe Baixinha's church in Lumiar, which transformed her path into one of sacred union, motherhood, and greater service. As a bodyworker, Reiki practitioner, and spiritual medium, Luna’s embodied feminine presence and dedication to the healing arts support Gabriel as the Flight of the Eagle movement expands globally.
Gabriel and Luna are based in Southern California with their two lovely daughters, who now
form the 4th generation of their sacred path. They regularly travel with their calling to awaken others to their innate soul gifts for personal and planetary transformation.
